Hello all!! Sorry I have been MIA. Claire has been sick (thought is was appendicitis, had xrays and found out that she is "plugged up"). So it has been eventful to say the least around here. We did have a great weekend though...
We had a fun weekend celebrating Bree's 2nd Birthday!! I cannot believe she is already 2!!!! I can remember it like yesterday when she was born. We had a fun weekend celebrating our baby girl!! I pretty much let her have as much icing and sweets from Friday on. She was such a mess :).
We started Saturday morning with her "Breakfast in Bed Birthday Party". I was really racking my brain trying to come up with a party that would suit her best. Bree LOVES "cancakes" as better know to others as pancakes. I decided to have a party where she could eat her favorite and we LOVE pjs! With the help of fabulous
Tara, I think she had a pretty darling party. We had a pancake bar with bacon and then yummy food for the mamas. The girls sat at my dining room table that we decorated as a bed. We had pink iced cupcakes that we topped with donut holes :). They all wore pjs and we had blankets for each of them to wrap up with. Bree sent all her friends home with a tooth brush a mini box of cereal.
I have a new outlook on birthday parties. If you have read my blog for long, you know that I love a good party. In the past they have been huge. That was always hard as I never felt that I was able to truly enjoy my guests and the kids couldn't either. I will always go all out with decorations and stuff, but I have started making the guest list smaller and making the parties more intimate. I have to tell you, it is the best advice I can give! I am more relaxed, they don't cost me as much in food and we ALL get to enjoy each other's company. My kids also have more fun as they get to really play with their friends.
This was definitely one of my favorite parties and by the fact that Bree passed out afterwards, tells me she had a great time too :)!
Here are tons of pics (thanks to Tara too :))...
Sunday was actually Bree's birthday. We went to church and then to brunch with mom and Jake and the Williamsons. Let me tell you about Bree. There are two things that REALLY piss her off. One - getting her hair fixed. TWO - getting woken up from a nap. Well, when I do either, she is mad and checked out for at least 30 minutes. So let's say that we are getting ready for church in our new birthday dress and mama fixes our hair, we are going to be a butt and not take pictures afterwards. Or let's say that at brunch, we are woken up from a nice nap, we are not going to even LOOK at the camera. So, trying to take pictures of her in her cute dress was near impossible!! Oh well, we loved our birthday girl anyway...and we had fun and ate a good brunch :)
Sunday night we had a little family party dinner and party for her. She is not a fan of people singing happy birthday to her, but she likes to sing it. We had more cake and the kids gave her a vacuum. Great night!
Bree Leighton Brown will forever be my baby. I don't care if she is 18, I will always see her as we see her today! She is such a little firecracker and the funniest kid! The Lord blessed us so much with this sweet biscuit of love!!!
