Baby girl is on her way...

What a crazy couple of days we have had!! We had a busy weekend that included a date night for me and Shane for our Anniversary! Shane's parents let us drop the kids off at 1pm Saturday and we did not pick them up until after dinner that night! What a nice, relaxing day!! We ran some errands, bought the kids some clothes and picked up the new monitor for Bree. Seriously I don't know why we never bought a video monitor??!! If you are having a baby or have a house full of kiddos, these things are WELL worth the money!! We have had so much fun keeping an eye on Owen is his room when he is supposed to be sleeping =). I know I am going to love it when I have another little one to look after! Shane and I went to eat Carrabba's Saturday night and it was wonderful. After dinner, some drama began...

After dinner, we ran to the mall to run a few more errands before picking up the kids and I started having some small contraction pains. Figuring it was nothing, I ignored them and we kept on going. We picked up the kids and I was not feeling any better and just figured I was just tired from the long day and needed to get home and lay down. We went home, Shane got the kids down, and we watched "Gran Torino" (awesome movie). By the end of the movie, I was having full blown contractions and was in quite a bit of pain. I knew it was early to be in labor and they were not that consistent, so I decided to go to bed and TRY to go to sleep. Well that didn't work and by 2:30am, Shane was getting me up to pack my bag and we were going to the hospital. As we were packing and I was moving around, adrenaline pumping, I realized that they had stopped and I was not in as much pain. I told Shane I was not in labor, but I know I am dilating and things are happening. I eventually passed out about 4am, Shane staying up until I did in case we were going to the hospital that night.

Needless to say, we didn't make it to church Sunday morning and I took it easy all day. The only thing I did do was Bree's laundry and got both of our bags packed and ready to go. Monday morning I called the Dr's office to set an appt to come in and get checked. This is not my first pregnancy, I knew that things were happening and it was early. If you remember back to previous posts, preterm labor is a risk with me and I was worried. We had a Ultrasound appt scheduled for today, so they said they would work me in after to see my Dr.

I had my ultrasound this morning. Bree is still weighing in at over 5lbs and this morning she was head down. They even got us a really cute shot of her smiling in 3D. Unfortunately, a problem was found, my placenta is almost blocking my cervix. Meaning if I was to go into labor, I would bleed and that would hurt Bree. So, now I was off to see the Dr. He met with us and let us know that I am going to have a scheduled C-section. The chances of the placenta moving are very slim and it is not a chance he wants to take. He checked me to see if I was dilated and I am already 1.5 cm at 33 weeks. My scheduled C-section date is August 21st...if I am still pregnant. If I get to 3 or 4cm dilated prior to then, he may go ahead and take her to ensure that I do not go into labor. There is a very high probability of that happening and we are going to just take it week by week. If I have contractions that progress and are consistent for an hour or if I bleed at all, we are too get to the hospital and I will have an emergency C-section. So needless to say, we were kind of blind sided today and we are getting prepared. Of course a C-section is not ideal, but we are ready to do whatever is best for Bree. The only way I could have her naturally is if I go into full blown labor and by the time they get to me, she is on her way out and they see the placenta is moved. My money is on the C-section and that is what I am preparing for. I am back on pelvic rest and have been instructed to not do much and pretty much lay around. I am so glad that I have her room done and we are pretty much ready for her. I know with Owen I was not this prepared, so it feels good that I can just relax (as much as one can with not knowing what the future holds) and wait for her to get here!

It is crazy to think she could be here in a few weeks, at the latest, 4 from Friday!!! Please pray that we can all relax and be patient over the next few weeks. So much will be going on in the Brown house until then including Owen's 3rd birthday (party not planned until the end of the month), Claire's first day of school and MANY family birthdays!!! Time should fly by, but I got a feeling it may drag for me =)....

Have a great night!!

Praying for you!!
That is scary, but at least they found it before you got in the delivery room, so they can be prepared.
Everything will be great and that beautiful baby will be here soon!
I can't wait to see her!

PS- Where is Lane?
Hope she's okay. I've been worried about her!

A C-section would definitely be best given the situation.

Try to take it easy. Not much longer now!

I will be praying, and take it easy!
I've had both, natural and c-section....c-section isn't as bad as you think. The recovery is hard, but it was also hard for me the the "other" way too. In a way, a c section is a lot easier! No work!;) That baby is in God's hands and He will take care of you!

Rachel,

I have been following your blog for a while now. I know it's scary to think about a C-section, but I go in on Friday for my 3rd one (we are having another sweet girl). I promise it's a breeze! I will be praying for you. I know it's hard with two kids, but try to take it easy!

Good luck!

I'll be praying for you and baby Bree. I had 3 c-sections. The surgery is easy, the recovery takes a while. I'm sure you will have help though. Not much longer and you will have 3 beautiful children. YEAH!

Hey Rachel. I had placenta previa with my last one and I had to have a C-section. I didn't want one either, but they told me complications could arise should I go into labor with the placenta covering my cervix, especially if my water broke. She said you can't deliver the placenta before the baby. Hang in there and take it easy and I will be praying for you. YAY for a date night though! We love Carrabba's! Yummy! Keep us updated!

I just read your post. My Internet is down at the house, so I've been super bored at work so I decided to play around on the Internet. I'm so thankful that they found out about all of this before you went into labor - so no scary surprises!!! I"ll be standing by waiting for the hospital call. This is my first baby!!! I've never ever known anyone this close to have a baby! I don't know much about babies, but I would prefer a c- section. Take it easy this weekend!!!
